2022 HADDOW + DINEEN ONE HUNDRED DAYS MÉTHODE ANCESTRALE (MUSEUM RELEASE)
MUSEUM NOTES:
2022 was a bag of liquorice all-sorts - cool spring, followed by a long spell of warm, dry weather, ending in a couple of decent rainy days between veraison and picking. All in all, very good ripening conditions that produced fine, bright acidity in the Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris grown at our Yorktown Vineyard.
On release, this wine received a terrific reception. Being one of the few examples of Ancestrale in Australia, people in the know have sought it out. For folks new to the style, it is usually love at first sip. Age has led the yeasty notes to integrate and the fresh orchard fruit flavours to round out into something delicious and complex.
Only a handful of bottles left (apart from the ones we are keeping for ourselves!).
Hand-picked Pinot Noir from the white gravel soils of the Yorktown Vineyard. Wild yeast fermentation begins in tank and completes in the bottle with no dosage. The wine is sealed while completing fermentation and will contain yeast sediment.
The oldest and most fraught way to make sparkling wine.
Wild, complex and not for everyone.
One hundred days you wait for it, Something bright, Something so good.

“I've got to say, I'm partial to some cloudy Méthode Ancestrale gear and this one from the Yorktown vineyard in the Upper Tamar is a ripper. A cloudy scrumpy-esque colour with notes of pear, apple and grapefruit, gentle spice, crème fraîche, white flowers, whey and light cidery and sea spray tones. Stony dry – like sucking a river pebble – with a citrusy acid line and sapid energy to burn. Yeah!”
