OTHER PEOPLE’S OPINIONS
Nick Ryan, The Australian
This looks a little bit like Tyrol in Tasmania, its fragrance and texture reminiscent of the layered and luscious whites made in the shadow of the Dolomites.
The nose that nears a glass is greeted with dry floral aromas, some poached pear and roast pineapple, wild honey, river stones and, appropriately enough a faint whiff of cheesecloth.
It has a richness and drive without the oiliness and heat that can come when pursuing flavour in pinot gris, and it is as good an example of what the variety can actually do as I’ve seen for some time.
2024 HALLIDAY WINE COMPANION
94 points - Silver Medal
“A luscious and opulent pinot gris that has a distinctlyEuropean sway. Light straw in colour with aromas of poached pear and apples, grilled nectarine and some nice citrus lift. There's a serious swell of texture on the palate along with tones of crushed stone, yellow plum, dried honey, clotted cream and pressed white flowers. Concentrated without heading into oily territory, it's a seriously good rendition that shows complexity and a sense of infectious vivacity.”
Campbell Mattinson for WineFront:
“Crazily good Pinot Gris. Terrific intensity of flavour, texture, length and interest. Pear drop, crystallised pineapple, woodsmoke, musk, apple and stone fruits studded with minerals. Whispers of fennel and vanilla too. It has power and it has poise.”
